I can't remember which one of you Bigxts recommended trying to grapple with the questions of suffering, good, evil, etc via fiction, literature and art rather than reading or watching purely academic logical debates. It was a great recommendation, thank you.
In that vein, I've been reading Dostoyevsky's "The Brothers Karazamov", and WOW. The chapters Rebellion and Grand Inquisitor are amongst the favourite words I have ever read in my life. I often struggle to articulate why I have always had this antinatalist tilt towards life and my inability to have faith in God or even existence. But in these chapters, Dostayekvsy, a believer, writes one of the best laments on suffering and the evil of allowing it by a God that I have ever come across. All the more powerful because in Rebellion, he focuses specifically on the torment children by those who enjoy inflicting it (in front of their mothers), and that is what completely rips me apart.
I think I'll need to re-read the book several ...
