Dear Bigxts. Many of you on here will know how awful some Islamic boarding schools in the UK are. I don't want to get into specifics here, but I am aware of a number of girls who went to one of these and were speaking out about some of the abuse / punishment tactics that happens in these schools on Tik Tok - definitely some illegal behaviour that is alleged (I happen to know some of the allegations are true from personal experience of family and friends). The school sends these posts around their community and tells them to report it, leading to a heap of reports. Tik Tok took all the posts down and suspended the accounts.
The girls are too scared to take legal action and any law firm or organisations like the FSU will need a person or ideally, multiple people, to come forward to bring a case or to report widely. I can't do it on their behalf, but some of these girls are only teenagers and they get disowned both by their families and communities and "progressive" society so I don't ...
Travel news amid all this chaos. Crossed the little land border of Pailin in NW Cambodia. Well known for gem mining and in the day a hang out for Paul Pot and the Khmer Rouge, who appropriated the gems for their murderous cause. Mostly local people at the border and a few questions as I got my fingerprints and photos done, but no problem and a nicely stamped passport. Waited, ate, chatted and finally got a bus to Chantaburi, East Thailand. Not much going on there and this morning headed to Rayong on the beach, Gulf of Thailand. All a bit harmless, friendly easy. 💙 Love travel, love Thailand
